What are VOCs, and Why Don't We Use Them? High Point Cabinets
High Point Cabinetry is dedicated to environmentally friendly options for your custom cabinetry. |
VOC stands for volatile organic compounds; they emit gases that frequently plague indoor spaces and can impact our health. Many materials contain pollutant VOCs--some paint, glues, and more. Cabinetry is not excluded and can be a major source of toxins. Some cabinetry--comprised of plywood, particleboard, or medium-density fiberboard-- contains formaldehyde in large amounts, one of the most dangerous and common VOCs. It's classified as a carcinogen and is known to cause leukemia, as well as sinus and nasal cancers. Other symptoms of VOCs include loss of coordination, headaches, memory loss, nausea, and kidney and liver damage.
High Point Cabinets is different from many other cabinetry companies for several reasons, one of them being that we are dedicated to environmentally friendly options. We use VOC-free materials throughout our entire custom cabinetry process, from start to finish. We also recycle all construction waste and debris so that less garbage ends up in landfills. Why are we so dedicated to processes that reduce waste and environmental impact? If it's better for the environment, it's better for you. It's a win-win!
